Our Story
In 2016, we decided to start something of our own with the intent of shaking up the seafood industry.
John and Richie (the “J” and the “R”) are former fishermen who grew up, and still reside, in Stonington, CT - a small fisherman's town located along the southern Connecticut coastline. Tired of low-quality and overpriced seafood products, they set out on a mission to deliver fresh, high-quality products at an affordable price. Utilizing a few strong relationships within the industry, they were eventually able to offer fresh seafood to local chefs, fish markets, and YOU at an extremely competitive price.
A business that started as only sea scallops has quickly expanded beyond that. While John and Richie exclusively run the wholesale side of the company, their oldest children, Allison and Andrew, teamed up and branched off to own and operate the fresh fish market, J&R Seafood Market, located in Mystic, CT. A commercial kitchen has allowed them to expand the concept even more with a full, made-to-order food menu, market-made chowders, prepared meals, sauces/marinades, seafood dips/spreads, catering, raw bars and more.
Whether it be a wholesale account or at the market, our team is committed to continuing our growth by sharing our seafood products with as many chefs, market owners, and everyday seafood lovers, like you, as we possibly can.
